Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) 2

The mission of Lively’s Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC-R) 2 program is to teach the student the theory and hands on application of the HVAC industry.  This will be accomplished through intense classroom instruction; individual study and practical advanced troubleshooting technology.

Students must take 3 Employment Ready Certification Exams prior to graduation. Students will be required to take Air Conditioning, Electrical, and one source of Heating (e.g. Heat Pump, Electric Heat, or Gas Heat).

Program Overview

The Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC-R) 2 program is designed to prepare students for employment or advanced training in the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration and ventilation industry. The student should obtain EPA certification prior to completion in order to be employed in any job that requires work with refrigerants. This program is designed to train the student in the basic theory, fundamental principles, and the practical applications which develop the knowledge and skills necessary for entry into the basic industry service and installation occupations.

The program was awarded a national accreditation by the ESCO Institute in 1999. Lively Technical College is an approved testing site for the E.P.A. Section 608 Refrigerant Certification and R410A Safety Certification. The program has an active advisory committee that works closely with the Externship Program to provide students valuable field experience upon completion of the course study. The program is accredited by HVAC Excellence.
