Lively Technical College Highlights Student Success as New Professional Nursing (LPN-RN) Program Advances
Lively Technical College is proud to announce continued progress in its new Professional Nursing (LPN-RN) Program, a major expansion of its Health Education offerings designed to meet the growing needs of our community and region. As the inaugural cohort approaches a key milestone, 25 dedicated students remain actively enrolled and will complete Module 4 of 9 on December 19. These students deserve recognition for their tenacity, dedication, commitment, discipline, and motivation as they move steadily toward earning their Registered Nursing credentials.
Created with working adults in mind, this accelerated one-year LPN-RN diploma program provides Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in Leon County and neighboring areas with a clear, accessible pathway to advance their careers. The curriculum supports a healthy school-work-life balance, offering a blend of classroom instruction, simulation labs, and hands-on clinical training in local healthcare facilities. Upon completion, students will be fully prepared to sit for the licensing examination and enter the workforce as Registered Nurses (RNs). Currently, the average starting salary for an RN is $46,800.
Launching the program comes at a critical time for Florida, which continues to face a significant nursing shortage. By training future RNs within our own community, Lively aims to strengthen the local healthcare workforce while offering career advancement opportunities to committed LPNs. Due to high anticipated demand, prospective students are strongly encouraged to submit complete and accurate application packets by the published deadline. A key admission requirement includes holding an active, unencumbered LPN license issued by the State of Florida or a Compact Licensure state.
A Message from Ms. Smith, RN Program Director and Lead Instructor:
“I spent 19 years as an LPN before earning my ASN degree, which required me to travel nearly two hours each way and stay overnight on weekends. The obstacles I faced—balancing rigorous academic demands with work and family life—are all too familiar to many LPNs. That’s why this program is so important. Lively is creating the opportunity I wish I had: a local, accessible, and supportive pathway to becoming a Registered Nurse. I am honored to be part of an initiative that will open doors for so many and look forward to watching it grow, thrive, and transform lives.”
