Lively Technical College Awards the Campbell Miller Scholarship

Lively Technical College proudly continues its tradition of honoring heroes and shaping futures through the Campbell Miller Scholarship, awarded this fall to four outstanding aviation students: Spencer Christensen, Eric Gordon, Wilderson Ulysse, and Aubree Earnhardt.
This distinguished scholarship was established in honor of Captain Campbell Miller, a World War II pilot who embodied courage, leadership, and a deep respect for those who kept the planes flying. In his early twenties, Campbell volunteered for the Army Air Corps and joined the B-17 pilot training program. He served two combat tours—volunteering for the second—with the Eighth Air Force’s 303rd Bomb Group, famously known as Hell’s Angels, at Molesworth Base in England. Leading a crew of eight, he completed an incredible 56 missions before returning home to train other pilots.
Captain Miller often praised the skill and ingenuity of his maintenance crews, crediting them for repairing the extensive damage his aircraft sustained after each mission. It is this appreciation for teamwork, technical excellence, and dedication that inspires the Campbell Miller Scholarship at Lively Technical College.
This fall’s scholarship recipients each received financial support toward the testing fees required to complete their aviation certifications—an important step toward launching successful careers in the aviation industry.
Instructor Rutledge Fuller shared how vital this support can be for students:
“Many of our students struggle with going to school full-time, working a part-time job, and being able to afford standard living expenses. The opportunity for scholarship money to help with testing is very important—sometimes critical—to our students entering the workforce.”
We are proud to share that Kristopher is already working in the field with PSA Airlines in Knoxville, Tennessee, while Wilderson “Will” Ulysse has joined the team at Flight line here in Tallahassee and is doing exceptionally well (see photo enclosed). Their success stories reflect the spirit of perseverance and skill that both Lively and Captain Miller’s legacy stand for.
Lively Technical College extends heartfelt gratitude to the Miller family for continuing Captain Miller’s legacy of service, perseverance, and passion for aviation. Their support empowers our students to take flight—literally and figuratively—as they build the next generation of skilled professionals who keep the skies safe.
