Lively Tech Students Gear Up for National Craft Championships
Lively Technical College is heading back to the national stage for the second time as students prepare to compete in the 2026 National Craft Championships in Salt Lake City this March—often called the “Olympics of Trades.”
Former student Katelyn Whitfield will represent Lively Tech after being unable to compete last year due to an emergency. Now a proud graduate, Katelyn works with both Smith Road Forge and Platinum Welding and Fabrication and is excited for another opportunity to showcase her skills.
“I am so grateful to get the opportunity to represent Lively at the 2026 competition,” Whitfield said. “After last year’s unexpected change of plans, I’m excited to show the skills I gained through the LTC program and bring home a trophy for our community.”
Joining her is Jordan Peacock, who will compete in pipe welding, further highlighting the strong hands-on training at Lively Tech.
This marks Lively Technical College’s second appearance at the National Craft Championships, building on an impressive debut. During its first competition, Sunny Ruby earned a Top Safety Award, and former student Thomas Pizzaro placed in the top four in the nation—a strong showing that set the bar high for future competitors.

Lively’s continued success is made possible through the partnership and sponsorship of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of North Florida, whose support helps students take their skills from the classroom to the national spotlight.
