Program Content / Objectives
What is Commercial Photography Technology?
Commercial Photography Technology students are prepared to become professional photographers. This program will give you enough technical skills in photography to open yourown studio or work in a photography setting.
What will I learn in this program?
This program teaches the fundamentals of photography, camera functions, f/stops, shutter speed, depth of field, composition rules, portraiture, posing, studio lighting, Photoshop CS3 on Apple/Macintosh systems, and business skills. When is the program offered?
Lively follows the Leon County School District Calendar (August-May).
The class is offered Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 11:45am
Special Program Prerequisite
You must have a digital single lens reflex (SLR) camera with manual setting capabilities.
What is the job market for professional photographers?
There are many jobs that require professional photography: weddings, executive portraits, sports, high school senior portraits, pet photography, commercial photography, etc.
About the Instructor:
AJ Abellera has over 10 years of experience in photography. Mr. Abellera graduated from the Commercial Photography Technology program from Lively Technical Center. He worked as
forensic photographer for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and received his forensic training in fingerprint and photography at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Mr. Abellera is a board member for the Tallahassee Professional Photographers Guild. He has a Florida Education Degree (FED) offered by the Florida Professional Photographers Association. In addition to teaching Lively's Commercial Photography Technology program, he has his own business in photography.
