Program Content / Objectives

This program is designed to prepare a person for employment as a barber/stylist at job entry level and prepares one to sit for the Florida Barber License examination. This program requires full-time enrollment.

Graduates Are Qualified To:

  • Cut and style men’s and women’s hair
  • Hairpieces
  • Mustache and beard design
  • Color and highlight
  • Permanent waves
  • Straighteners
  • Facial Massage
  • Facial Shaving

 

To become a first time licensed Barber in the state of Florida, an individual must be at least 16 years of age, have completed a minimum of 1200 hours of training under rules established by the Barbers' Board, make application to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and pay all test fees. Under certain circumstances, the Department permits testing for students who have completed 1000 hours of training.
