Career Opportunities:
The Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technician profession offers a vast array of career opportunities ranging from general aviation to commercial aviation; from aircraft or component manufacturers to aircraft repair and overhaul at both domestic and foreign fixed base operations. Employers range from the major and commuter airlines, corporate or government flight departments, Maintenance Repair Organizations, engine overhaul and service centers to the government and Federal Aviation Administration. Additional opportunities can be found at helicopter operations in the petroleum, government, law enforcement and medical fields.

Program Content / Objectives

The Aviation Maintenance Technology program is divided into three course OCP’s consisting of:

Aviation General Maintenance Technician Helper (540 Hours) - This course is designed to introduce the student to the required general subjects and skills in preparation for the FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification. This course is a prerequisite for both the Airframe Maintenance Technician and Powerplant Maintenance Technician programs.

Airframe Maintenance Technician (810 Hours) - This course introduces the student to the knowledge and skills required to prepare for FAA Airframe exam and certification. Subjects include sheetmetal structures, composites, rigging, aircraft airframe systems, instruments, communication and navigation systems.

Powerplant Maintenance Technician (810 Hours) - This course introduces the student to the knowledge and skills required to prepare for FAA Powerplant examination and certification. Subjects include reciprocating and turbine engines, propeller and powerplant systems.
