Program Content / Objectives

The program trains students with the latest software, simulators, and diagnostic equipment in all phases of automotive services and electronics technologies.  The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on laboratory training in the troubleshooting, service, and repair of automotive systems.  The Automotive Technology Program provides a platform for continuing education or employment in a rewarding, high-wage career.  This program provides comprehensive skills enhancement training in the following automotive service areas:

Our Automotive Electronics Technology Program combines hands-on training in a fully integrated, interactive, computerized, and computer managed multi-stationed laboratory.  Our program provides a gateway for current and qualifying future technicians with practical exercises in a wide range of electronics fundamentals as it applies to today’s technologically sophisticated automobiles.  The final stage of the training for graduating technicians is the combination of interactive simulators and vehicles featuring electronic fuel injection, computerized controlled ignition systems, starting systems, accessory systems, antilock braking systems, and electronic emission control systems.  This program develops a mastery of the applications of electronics through practical skills training, problem solving methods, real-time simulations and live work experience.

Automotive Service Technology Occupational Completion Points Description

Automotive Lube Technician: (150 Clock Hours)  The course content includes applying appropriate math skills; an understanding of basic sciences; safety regulations; routine maintenance and consumer services; appropriate communication skills and employee behavior in the automotive industry.  The course addresses skills required to choose an occupation, locate and apply for a job, maintain a good relationship with supervisors and co-=workers, and developing good work habits.  It provides foundational concepts related to entrepreneurship.

Automotive Service Assistor:  (150 Clock Hours)  The course content includes demonstrating proficiency in the routine maintenance and consumer services in the automobile industry.

Automotive Electrical / Electronic System Technician:  (300 Clock Hours)  The course content provides skill training in diagnosis and service of batteries.  It also provides skill training in diagnosis and repair of starting systems, charging systems, lighting systems, gauges, warning devices, driver information systems, horn and wiper / washer and accessories.

Automotive Brake Technician:  (150 Clock Hours)  The course content provides the skill training enabling proficiency in the diagnosis, operation, servicing, and repair of automotive brake systems in the automobile industry.

Heating, Air Conditioning and Engine Cooling Systems:  (150 Clock Hours) The course content provides the skill training enabling proficiency in the heating, air conditioning, and engine cooling systems in the automobile industry.

Engine Repair Technician:  (150 Clock Hours)  The course content provides the principles and procedures in engine diagnosis, removal, disassembly, rebuilding, and dynamic check out enabling proficiency in engine theory and repairs in the automobile industry.

Automotive Engine Performance Technician:  (300 Clock Hours) The course content provides skill training in the introduction to computer command control, electronic engine control, and electronic fuel injection systems in the automobile industry.

Manual Drive Train and Axles Technician:  (150 Clock Hours)  The course content provides the skill training enabling proficiency in the operation and servicing of manual drive trains and axles.

Automatic Transmission and Transaxle Technician:  (150 Clock Hours)  The course content provides the skill training enabling proficiency in the operation and servicing of automatic transmission / transaxle.
